FAQs

How do I book a session with your team?

Easy! Just reach out through our contact page or shoot us a message on Instagram. We’ll follow up to learn more about what you’re looking for and send over the details to lock it in.

How far in advance should I reach out?

The earlier the better, especially for travel or seasonal shoots. Ideally 2–4 weeks ahead, but we’ll always try to accommodate last-minute magic if we can.

Do you travel for shoots?

Absolutely! We’re always up for an adventure — whether it’s across town or across time zones. Just include the location in your inquiry and we’ll work out the details.

Can you help us choose a location?

Yes, we definitely can. If you don’t already have a spot in mind, we’ll offer a number of options that match your goals, tone and overall aesthetic of the shoot. From desert backroads to downtown rooftops, we probably have a location already in mind.

What’s your photography style?

Honest, cinematic, and human. We focus on real moments, natural light, and the kind of details that might otherwise go unnoticed. Whether it’s an intimate portrait or an editorial spread, our work leans timeless over trendy.

Do you offer creative direction or moodboarding for brand/editorial shoots?

We do! Along with our passion and skill for photography, we are also knowledgeable on approaches and brand building. For commercial or editorial work, we’re happy to collaborate on creative direction — from initial concepts to moodboards, shot lists, and styling support.

Can we request edits or retouching?

We lightly retouch all final images for color, tone, composition and consistency. If you need more detailed editing (skin, background cleanup, etc.), just let us know — we are happy to assist within reason.

What’s included in your session fee?

At minimum each session includes a pre-shoot consult, shoot time, post-production editing, and access to a curated online gallery of high-res images. We’ll outline exactly what’s included when you book!

Will you use our photos on your website or Instagram?

It depends! We love sharing our favorite work but understand not everyone likes to have their images shared. We always respect your boundaries, and will discuss this in the initial consult.

Will you bring the dad jokes or do we have to?

We’ve got you covered. Andrew typically brings the jokes, while Christa will bring the eye rolls. The light might be serious — but we’re not.

Why the name Absurd Light?

It’s a nod to the strange beauty of the everyday. Inspired by Albert Camus and the idea that even in an absurd world, we can find meaning in the light — in fleeting moments, quiet glances, and stories told through a frame.

What inspires your photography?

Human connection, nice lighting and honest moments.
